Future Development Popularity of Environmental Sensors such as Air Sensors

With the country paying more and more attention to environmental protection, relevant detection industry policies have also received support, capital investment continues to increase, and the environmental monitoring market will show an upward trend, directly benefiting air sensors.

LUFMES editors have noticed that according to relevant data, environmental monitoring sensors are mainly divided into three categories based on application fields:

1. Industrial environmental monitoring sensors, suitable for indoor and outdoor environmental monitoring at work sites. Among them, indoor sensors monitor flammable and explosive or toxic and harmful gases such as organic vapors and combustible gases according to the site environment; outdoor sensors mainly monitor VOC emission concentrations, specifically various pollutants such as ammonia, benzene, and toluene;

2. Civilian environmental monitoring sensors, mainly used in indoor and outdoor residential homes or common commercial places such as shopping malls, stations, airports, schools, and roads. In various sub-sectors of environmental governance, gas sensors, water environmental detection sensors, and soil pollution detection sensors are playing an increasingly important role as the "three cornerstones" of environmental monitoring systems.

The PM2.5 infrared sensor of gas sensors, specifically the HPD05 infrared PM2.5 sensor module, uses the principle of optical scattering to detect the concentration of dust in the air. The sensor has a built-in infrared light-emitting diode and a high-sensitivity photoelectric receiving sensor. The infrared light emitted reflects when it encounters dust, and the photoelectric sensor reflects the dust concentration in the air by detecting the intensity of this reflected light. The sensor directly outputs PWM signals and can also output dust concentration values through IIC serial signals. This sensor is suitable for supporting air purifiers, air conditioners with purification functions, fresh air systems, and air quality detection instruments.

3. Sensors for analytical instruments, mainly used in environmental monitoring stations, environmental testing or metrology calibration institutions, and scientific research institutes;

Taking gas sensors as an example, as the battle to protect the blue sky begins across the country, people's attention to air quality is not only limited to outdoor air quality but indoor air quality is also gradually coming into view. At the same time, gas sensors are being more widely used in detecting PM2.5, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and TVOC. Furthermore, due to severe smog in China in recent years, air quality has become a hot topic for the public. Simultaneously, consumers' requirements for healthy home appliances have risen to an unprecedented height, and purification products are showing a rapid growth trend. Under this trend, the market demand for gas detection sensors has also significantly increased.

To improve air quality, most currently use air purifiers to clean the air. Air purifiers paired with PM2.5 sensors can more effectively monitor indoor particles such as PM2.5, filter them, and then discharge clean air, allowing the air purifier to exert greater efficacy.
