Dust Sensors: The "Eyes" of Fresh Air Systems

Dust sensor: The “eyes” of the fresh air system

A dust sensor is a type of sensor used to detect the concentration of dust particles in the air. Dust particles refer to particulate matter with a diameter of less than 10 micrometers (μm), also known as respirable particulate matter, which can enter the human lungs through the respiratory tract and cause harm to human health. Therefore, dust sensors have important applications in fields such as air quality monitoring and air purification.

Working principle of dust sensor

There are two main working principles of dust sensors: optical scattering principle and resistance principle.

● Optical scattering principle: Dust particles will produce scattered light under illumination. The intensity of the scattered light is related to the size, shape, concentration, and other factors of the particles. Therefore, the concentration of particles can be calculated by measuring the intensity of the scattered light.

● Resistance principle: Dust particles will deposit on a resistor, causing the resistance value to change. Therefore, the concentration of particles can be calculated by measuring the change in the resistance value.

Types of dust sensors

According to the working principle, dust sensors can be divided into optical dust sensors and resistance dust sensors. Depending on the light source, optical dust sensors can be further divided into infrared dust sensors and laser dust sensors.

● Infrared dust sensor: Uses an infrared LED as the light source, and the detection range is generally 1-100μm.

● Laser dust sensor: Uses a laser as the light source, and the detection range is generally 0.3-10μm, with higher precision.

Dust sensor: The “eyes” of the fresh air system

The role of dust sensors in the fresh air system

A fresh air system is a device that introduces fresh outdoor air into the room and exhausts dirty indoor air outdoors. Dust sensors can detect the dust concentration in the indoor air in real time. When the dust concentration is too high, the fresh air system can automatically start the purification function to ensure indoor air quality.

The role of dust sensors in the fresh air system mainly includes the following aspects:

● Real-time monitoring of indoor air quality: Dust sensors can detect the dust concentration in the indoor air in real time. Users can view the data through the fresh air system's display screen or APP to understand the indoor air quality.

● Automatic adjustment of the fresh air system: When the dust concentration is too high, the fresh air system can automatically start the purification function to ensure indoor air quality.

● Improving the intelligence level of the fresh air system: The addition of dust sensors can make the fresh air system more intelligent, providing users with a more comfortable and healthy air environment.

Buying suggestions for dust sensors

When purchasing a dust sensor, the following factors need to be considered:

● Detection range: Choose a sensor suitable for the detection range according to your needs.

● Accuracy: The higher the accuracy, the more accurate the measurement results.

● Stability: The better the stability, the longer the service life of the sensor.

● Price: Price also needs to be considered.

The dust sensor is an important component in the fresh air system, which can monitor indoor air quality in real time and automatically adjust the fresh air system to ensure indoor air quality. When purchasing a dust sensor, it is necessary to choose a suitable sensor based on actual needs.
