Selection and Application of PM2.5 Sensor Modules

Due to industrial development and urban vehicle exhaust emissions, air quality is becoming worse, and "PM2.5" has attracted widespread attention. Selection of PM2.5 Sensor Modules

As PM2.5 has become a hot topic, many companies have seen the huge business opportunities in PM2.5 treatment. Therefore, many sensors or modules capable of measuring PM2.5 have appeared on the market. In terms of product naming, they are all linked to PM2.5 to attract attention. However, as a product developer, you should carefully screen based on your own product positioning and needs to choose the sensor/module that best suits your product.

PM2.5 sensor modules are generally divided into laser PM2.5 sensor modules and infrared PM2.5 sensor modules. The laser PM2.5 sensor module adopts the Mie spherical particle scattering principle, which can detect particles with a diameter range of 0.1~10μm. It has a wide range of applications, requires no additional air duct design, and is compatible with multi-protocol outputs. It is a high-precision PM2.5 sensor module.

The infrared PM2.5 sensor module is based on the principle of light dispersion. An infrared light-emitting diode emits light that encounters dust to produce reflected light. A high-sensitivity photoelectric receiving sensor detects the intensity of the reflected light and outputs a signal. The concentration of dust is determined based on the intensity and quantity of the output signal. Compared to laser particle sensors, it can only detect particles with a diameter of 0.5μm or more, but the price of the infrared PM2.5 sensor module is half that of the laser sensor module. For equipment with low requirements for particle detection accuracy, the infrared PM2.5 sensor module is a cost-effective particulate matter sensor module.
