What is the function of an in-car dust sensor?

Common applications of dust sensors include air purifiers, vacuum cleaners, air conditioners, and sweeping robots. Following the release of China's passenger vehicle air quality standard, “Guideline for Air Quality Assessment of Passenger Cars,” concern for air quality inside vehicles has grown significantly. Many modern vehicles are now equipped with intelligent air purification systems, in which the dust sensor is a critical component. What is the role of an in-vehicle dust sensor?

 

There are several main sources of air pollution inside vehicles. Source one: smoke and dust generated by poor air circulation, as well as suspended particulate matter from toys and cushions. Source two: toxic gases contained in vehicle decoration materials, mainly including benzene, formaldehyde, acetone, and xylene.

The Role of In-Vehicle Dust Sensors:

Besides regular cleaning and opening windows, new vehicle models now feature intelligent in-vehicle air purification systems. These systems consist of an air purifier, dust sensors, other gas detection sensors, and a control system. The air purifier can adsorb, decompose, or transform various pollutants (dust, smoke, formaldehyde, etc.) to improve air quality. Dust sensors are used in these systems to detect dust concentrations, allowing the control system to intelligently adjust the purifier to filter dust and keep the cabin air fresh.

 

The LD09 laser dust sensor developed by LUFTMY is a high-precision particulate matter concentration sensor based on Laser Mie Scattering theory.
