PM2.5 Dust Sensors Combating Haze

PM2.5 dust sensor tackling haze days

Haze is a hot topic in Northern China, and in recent years, the term haze has increasingly appeared in Southern regions, with information about haze filling the news. When relative humidity is high in the morning or at night, fog forms; as temperatures rise and humidity drops during the day, it gradually transforms into haze. This phenomenon is caused by both meteorological factors and industrial pollution emissions. The Luftmy editor also noted that the state has released PM2.5 indices, requiring related air conditioning equipment to meet national standards.

With the occurrence of widespread heavy and severe pollution, demand in Northern cities for large-capacity washing machines and air conditioners with air quality sensors and fresh air purification has increased. Many air conditioner manufacturers are now launching new models equipped with dust sensors to help users fight haze, a health killer. These PM2.5 dust sensors accurately detect indoor air quality and provide corresponding ventilation measures.

Dust sensors are also called PM2.5 sensors, dust concentration sensors, or PM2.5 particulate matter sensors, specifically designed to detect fine dust particles floating in the air. The dust sensors launched by Luftmy are developed based on the same optical scattering principle and Mie scattering theory as particle counters. They can be embedded in various instruments or environmental improvement equipment to provide timely and accurate concentration data.

The PM2.5 infrared sensor HPD05 module uses the optical scattering principle to detect dust concentration. It features a built-in infrared LED and a high-sensitivity photoelectric receiver. The light from the LED produces reflections upon encountering dust, and the sensor reflects the dust concentration by detecting the intensity of this reflected light, outputting a PWM signal directly. Application fields include air conditioners with purification, dust detectors, air purifiers, vehicle purifiers, portable detectors, and fresh air systems.

Haze weather is a health killer for patients with cardiovascular diseases. Experts suggest that the elderly with respiratory or cardiovascular issues should avoid going out or exercising in the morning during foggy weather to prevent exacerbating their conditions or triggering heart attacks. Experts point out that foggy days are dangerous because low air pressure decreases oxygen content, leading to chest tightness, while cold, damp fog can cause blood pressure fluctuations and vascular spasms.
