Air Purifiers Must Be Cleaned This Way to Maintain Efficiency

Air purifiers must be cleaned this way to maintain their effectiveness

With the development of urban industrialization, urban air pollution is becoming more and more serious. Many populous cities have experienced haze conditions. Many families choose to purchase air purifiers to improve the indoor air environment. Air purifiers can effectively filter dust and particulate matter in the air and remove odors. If you find that odors are not being removed during the use of the air purifier, but instead persist, it is very likely that the air purifier needs to be cleaned. Regular cleaning of the air purifier is necessary to ensure its effectiveness. Here is how to clean your air purifier:

1) Cleaning the Pre-filter

After long periods of use, the pre-filter will accumulate dust, which affects the air intake and thus the overall air purification effect. You can use a damp cloth or a vacuum cleaner for cleaning. If it is particularly dirty, it can also be washed directly with water. It is recommended to clean it about once a month.

2) Cleaning the Activated Carbon Filter

Activated carbon plays a significant role in removing odors. Washing the activated carbon filter with water is not recommended. If there is not too much dust, you can use a hairdryer to blow away surface dust. If a large amount of dust has accumulated on the surface, it is recommended to replace it with a brand new one. The replacement cycle is approximately six months.

3) Cleaning the HEPA Filter

HEPA is woven from very fine organic fibers. It has a strong ability to capture particles, small pore sizes, large adsorption capacity, high purification efficiency, and water absorption properties. Washing with water is not recommended. Some people use a vacuum cleaner or tap the dust out directly, but this only removes surface dust; dust trapped inside the fibers cannot be cleaned out. It is still recommended to replace it approximately every six months.

4) Motor and Fan

As the most core and indispensable components of an air purifier, the motor and fan's main role is to control the circulation of air. They draw in air containing pollutants, filter it, and then blow out clean air. You can use a soft brush to remove dust from the motor and fan, or wipe them directly with a soft cloth.

5) PM2.5 Sensor

The PM2.5 sensor on an air purifier can detect the indoor PM2.5 concentration in real-time, making it convenient for users to choose the machine's operating mode. If there is dirt or dust around the PM2.5 sensor window, it will affect its sensitivity and mislead the user. Since the sensor window is small, you can clean it with a wet cotton swab and then dry it with a dry cotton swab.

Air purifiers must be maintained and cleaned regularly; otherwise, the air purification effect will be significantly reduced, making our purchase of them meaningless.
