Particulate matter concentration detection sensors, also called PM2.5 sensors, are used to detect the concentration of PM2.5 particulate matter in the air. They are a type of air quality sensor and are applied in air purifiers, fresh air systems, and air dust concentration detectors.

There are two types of particulate matter concentration sensors: one is the infrared type and the other is the laser type. The light sources and measurement accuracy of these two sensors differ. Currently, the smallest particle diameter detectable by infrared particulate matter sensors on the market is 1.0μm, while laser particulate matter sensors have a minimum detection accuracy of 0.1μm. Luftmy currently offers two infrared PM2.5 sensors, HPD05 and GDS06, which can detect particles as small as 0.5μm and can output concentration data directly (whereas typically only laser dust sensors on the market output concentration data).

The laser PM2.5 dust sensor LD13 is a high-precision particulate matter concentration sensor based on laser Mie scattering theory. It can continuously collect and calculate the number of suspended particles of different sizes in the air per unit volume, which is the particulate matter concentration distribution. This is then converted into mass concentration and output via a universal digital interface. This sensor can be embedded in various instruments or environmental improvement equipment related to suspended particulate matter concentration in the air to provide timely and accurate concentration data.
